King Mohammed VI meets with Chinese President – Morocco

King Mohammed VI held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday, 31 August 2020 a statement from the royal cabinet said.

The meeting is part of the friendly relations between the two countries, enhanced by the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed by the two heads of state during the royal visit to Beijing, in May 2016, said the same source.

According to the same source, the telephone interview between the Moroccan sovereign and the Chinese president focused on the development of bilateral relations in all areas, in particular political dialogue, economic cooperation and cultural and human exchanges.

They also discussed the partnership between the two countries in the fight against Covid-19.

“The meeting was therefore an opportunity to thank the People’s Republic of China for the support and accompaniment it provided to the strong preventive measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to stem the spread of the pandemic, both in terms of medical equipment and screening tests, and in terms of the exchange of information and expertise, ”said the press release from the royal cabinet.

The two heads of state also discussed “the future stages of operational cooperation between Morocco and China, as part of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic”.
