Actress Khanyi Mbau has written a love letter to her body in honour of the Marie Claire New Naked Campaign 2018.
The Marie Claire magazine has become synonymous with their annual ‘Naked’ issue, which is set to hit shelves this September. This year’s edition, titled the 2018 #DearBody New Naked campaign, features actress Khanyi Mbau as one of the celebrity personalities tasked with writing a letter to their body.
On Sunday, Mbau took to social media to share her letter to her body. She wrote, “#DearBody, my spirit hasn’t been the easiest to house. I’ve cut you, stitched you, changed you a few times. You’ve felt the pain. I’ve threatened and offended you, but you’ve constantly been there. Thank you for choosing to house my spirit. Love, Khanyi.” Fifteen celebrity names were asked to join the New Naked campaign. Besides Mbau, those featured in the campaign include, Sibongile Mafu and Sherlin Barends, radio personality Ayanda MVP, actress Nomalanga Shozi, fashion influencers Shelley Mokoena and Keneilwe Mothoa from Prime Obsession, comedian Tumi Morake, entertainer Zodwa Wabantu, TV presenter Lalla Hirayama, comedian and TV presenter Nina Hastie, model and actress Michelle Mosalakae, actress Bianca Le Grange, influencer Lesego ‘ThickLeeyonce’ Legobane and, author and actress Buhle Ngaba.
An exhibition will be held at the Berman Contemporary Gallery in Sandton, Johannesburg in September to celebrate the stars of the 2018 #DearBody New Naked issue. Selected images from the shoot will be exhibited and sold on the night with all proceeds from the sales going to Women + Men against Child Abuse, a non-profit Child Protection Organisation committed to fighting for the rights of children.
