Keagan Buchanan will play the 2018/19 season in Pietermaritzburg.
On Wednesday, 11 July 2018, Maritzburg United took to their official twitter account to announce the signing of Former Kaizer Chiefs player, Keagan Buchanan on a three-year contract.
The 27-year-old joined The Glamour boys during the 2016/17 season and spent the past two seasons there. However, Buchanan struggled for game time at Chiefs, mainly because of injuries. The midfielder only featured in nine league games and played in one cup match, Chiefs’ Telkom Knock-Out match back in 2016 against Maritzburg United.
With former teammate at Amakhosi, defender Siyanda Xulu having found a home at United, Buchanan will be confident that he can overturn his recent dry career spell around as well.
He said in a statement “It’s a new start for me and I am excited to be here. It’s a good team, a good coach, good supporters and structure and a good style of play.
“Coach Fadlu is one of the main reasons I have joined the club. The way his team plays, his style of coaching, the fact that he knows what I can do and where he can improve me, So I am very excited about that”
Coach, Fadlu Davids praised Keagan, saying, “I think Keagan will give us different dimension in the midfield. He will complement our playing style well.”
Davids and Buchanan will reunite at the Team Of Choice, having crossed paths earlier in their careers at Bloemfontein Celtic.
