Danny Jordaan says that he is willing to undergo legal proceedings to prove that he is innocent after former ANC MP, Jennifer Ferguson laid a rape charge against him.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) president says that he will allow the courts to prove his innocence in the matter.
Ferguson laid the charge of rape against Jordaan at the Parkview Police station in Johannesburg last week.
The case has been transferred to Port Elizabeth since that is the area where the incident allegedly took place.
She publicly accused the Jordaan of sexually assaulting her in 1994. He has since denied the allegations in a statement through his lawyers.
Speaking to Radio 702 earlier on Monday, 26 March, Ferguson said more woman are willing to come forward to detail their stories of sexual assault at the hands of Jordaan.
She further stated that the decision to lay charges of rape against Jordaan was not an easy decision to make and that her and her team are aware of the “serious journey we are embarking on”
Meanwhile, former Premier Soccer League (PSL) general manager and referee, Andile “Ace” Ncobo has called for Jordaan to resign following the rape allegations.
Ncobo said in an interview with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) that Jordaan is no longer the right person to lead the organisation. He added that he will put pressure within and outside the PSL in order to force Jordaan to resign.
