Three-day diet fads are popping up everywhere – here is an assessment of the effectiveness of these fast track diet plans.
Three-day diet plans have sprung up all over the internet. These include the 3 Day Diet and the Military Diet.
These diets are intended to help users drop large amounts of weight in just a few days by drastically decreasing calorie intake. This way of dieting however is very rarely effective and can be unhealthy.
Here is an assessment of the effectiveness of these three-day diet plans:
- These diets limit calorie intake to between 850 – 950 calories per day. While this may cause rapid weight loss, it is ineffective in the long term. Limiting calorie intake causes lethargy and a range of other health problems.
- Because the diet only lasts three days, users are likely to immediately put on weight they have lost as over-eating may occur to make up for energy lost.
- Weight lost in these three days will most likely be water weight or muscle and not body fat.
