DollarTub does make a compelling promise, but there are many of the finer details about the platform that do just not add up.
Earning money for your screen time may sound appealing, but it seems like cashing out your DollarTub earnings is much more complicated than expected.
Is DollarTub legit?
A recent report by ElectronicsHub found that South Africans have the highest screen time in the world, with the average South African spending more than 56% of their daily waking hours glued to their devices.
However, a new platform called DollarTub promises that all this screen time could be a means to generate some extra income.
According to the DollarTub website, signing up for the service will allow you to earn money by watching videos online, effectively turning the time spent mindlessly watching your screen into cold, hard cash.
But, as with all offers that seem too good to be true, the reviews for DollarTub reveal that withdrawing your earnings from this platform is much trickier than it seems initially.
Time does not equal money on DollarTub
The process to sign up for DollarTub is quite simple. Joining DollarTub is free and once you start watching videos and completing tasks on the platform, you will see your “earnings” accumulating in your DollarTub wallet.
However, the process gets much more complicated when you try to actually withdraw these earnings. Although DollarTub does not warn you about this when you sign up, you will need to hit a $100 minimum to start withdrawing your earnings.
And, per the 1-star reviews on Trustpilot, even if you reach the $100 minimum requirement, there will be even more requirements that you need to meet after that.
In the end, it seems like withdrawing your earnings from DollarTub can quickly become an impossible task.
The DollarTub site is quite new
Another important aspect to investigate before you join any new online platform is the age of the platform. And unfortunately, DollarTub (dollartub.com) is still fairly new.
This domain was only registered less than two years ago in December of 2022 and will expire in December of 2024. This does not inspire much hope about the platform’s longevity.
The referral bonus
The last little detail that should make you think twice about signing up to the DollarTub platform is the fact that it offers such a disproportionate referral bonus.
Too good to be true referral-bonus programs are usually a big red flag when it comes to internet scams and given that DollarTub offers up to $5 for a referral (but completing the tasks will only reportedly earn you about $2 to $3), it may be worth your time to look into the platform much more thoroughly before you spend your free time watching videos for nothing.
