The IEC has confirmed the voter registration dates for the upcoming local government elections, which have been set for mid-July.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) took to Twitter on Thursday, 13 May 2021, to endorse the statement detailing the voter registration dates for the upcoming government elections. The local government elections are set to take place on Wednesday, 27 October 2021.
According to the statement, “In the lead-up to this weekend, the IEC said it would embark on a nationwide voter education and awareness campaign. This, it said, would be to encourage all eligible voters to make sure they are ready to participate in the elections scheduled to be held on 27 October 2021.”
Moreover, the statement went on to add that the campaign is set to make use of multimedia. This means that the campaign will use “television, radio, outdoor and digital media along with targeted interventions aimed specifically at young, first-time voters.” The campaign is set to run until Saturday, 17 July 2021, and Sunday, 18 July 2021, when voter registration is scheduled for.
