Hip-Hop fraternity mourns the loss of rapper, Pro Kid

#RIPProKid was a top trend when the news of the passing of Pro Kid was confirmed. Many have taken to social media to pay tribute to the veteran.

Hip-Hop fans around the country are mourning the loss of Linda Mkhize, commonly known as Pro Kid. The 37-year-old rapper died after suffering a seizure while he was with friends on Wednesday evening. Mkhize’s family released a statement yesterday morning confirming his death.

“He suffered a severe seizure attack while visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8:38 PM,” the statement read.

Fans and industry friends are paying tribute to the veteran and remembering his legacy on social media. The likes of AKA, HHP, Tweezy, ProVerb and Slikour shared heartfelt messages on ProKid’s contribution to the growth of South African Hip-Hop.

Slikour, of Skwatta Kamp, tweeted:

“Dankie San you made ghetto metaphors and punchlines seem effortless, you birthed a whole generation of spitters that were inspired by your style. A rap pioneer, word engineer top 5 dead or alive. #RIPProKid and condolences to your family.”
