Herman Mashaba reacts to IEC’s rejection of Action SA’s application

Published on

Herman Mashaba has reacted to the IEC’s rejection of Action SA’s registration as a political party, further claiming that it has no legal right to reject the application.

Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, to react to the news that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has rejected Action SA’s application to register as a political party. The rejection is premised on allegations by a party called Party of Action, which allegedly changed its name to Party of Action SA after Mashaba established his political party.

Through a series of tweets, Action SA has shared that it is currently appealing the first verdict by the IEC. Moreover, Mashaba’s last word on the matter was to ensure supporters of his party that the matter is not as grave as it seems. He suggested that the rejection is also politically motivated by the fear that his party poses a threat, writing, “The hyenas and looters are sweating! Action SA is here. Nothing will stop us.”
