Herman Mashaba criticises South Africa’s “broken immigration system”

Published on

Herman Mashaba has criticised the country’s “broken immigration system,” further suggesting that it is the reason for the protest action against illegal foreign nationals and criminality.

Leader of Action SA, Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Tuesday, 22 September 2020, to comment on the protest action against illegal foreign nationals. His tweet comes a day before the scheduled 23 September Clean SA protest, a movement which has highlighted hotspots that have reportedly been assumed by illegal foreign nationals, such as Hillbrow, Sunnyside and Kempton Park.

Mashaba specifically weighed in on the protest action scheduled to take place on Monday, 28 September 2020. The Sidikwe March is based on similar principles as the 23 September Clean SA protest action. However, the protest action is aimed at rallying behind the Put South Africans First movement.

In his post, Mashaba clarified that he does not condone violence against foreign nationals, stating that his issue is with the country’s governance. He stated, “[My issue is] with a broken immigration system and government that has allowed criminality to flourish.”
