Herman Mashaba continues canvassing for supporters, despite IEC’s rejection

Published on

Herman Mashaba has continued canvassing for supporters and members to join Action SA, despite the IEC rejecting its application to be recognised as a political party.

Herman Mashaba took to Twitter on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, to assert that Action SA is still canvassing for members and votes for the upcoming election. This is despite the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) rejecting its request to be registered as a political party. This was after the IEC addressed why Action SA’s application was rejected.

The IEC stated, “We have written to Action SA to inform it that its application to be registered as a political party has been rejected, based on the similarity of its logo with that of another registered party, as well as the fact the logo includes the SA national flag.”

Mashaba then took to social media and showcased that despite the ruling, it is still business as usual for Action SA. Individuals can even sign up to become an Action SA member online.
