The Ghanaian political fraternity is currently mourning the death of the member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Constituency in Accra, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, as tributes continue to pour in on Friday, 23 November 2018.
The MP, aged 60, died on Wednesday, 21 November 2018, in the United States of America where he was receiving treatment, and this compelled President Nana Akufo-Addo to visit the family on Thursday afternoon in the company of senior members of his party.
He has therefore directed that the flag of his political party to fly at half-mast in honour of the MP for the next week, while the family makes arrangements for his burial.
President Akufo-Addo told the family that, “we have lost one of the strongest members of the party. I am deeply saddened and I share in your pain.”
Other tributes have come from Former Presidents John Agyekum Kufour and John Dramani Mahama, who all expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Agyarko is also a former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Foods and Drugs Authority and entered into active politics in 2009 as MP for his constituency.
