Free State Labour Department announces temporary closure
The Free State Labour Department is temporarily closed, due to water leaks within the building after the recent heavy rains.
The South African Government took to Twitter on Thursday, 21 January 2021, to announce the temporary and indefinite closure of the Free State Department of Labour. Several labour centres in the country have reported temporary closures due to COVID-19 cases in recent weeks. However, the reason for the closure of the Free State branch is infrastructural issues.
According to the post, the building that the centre is located in, the Laboria House Building, has been experiencing water leaks. The water leaks are due to the heavy rains from the past few weeks. Due to the matter being an infrastructural issue, the centre will be closed indefinitely.
As such, citizens have been advised to visit the next nearest centre, should they need physical assistance. However, the department’s online services are being encouraged amid the pandemic.
