Former Miss South Africa, Jo-Ann Strauss, shares her views on breastfeeding in public

Jo-Ann Strauss took to social media to express herself on the matter; this comes after the Top Billing TV presenter recently gave birth to her third child.

In light of Breastfeeding Week 2018, Former Miss South Africa, Jo-Ann Strauss, shared her views on breastfeeding in public and how it is perceived. The pageant queen recently welcomed her third child with husband, Michael Held.

She took to social media and posted a picture of her and her new-born baby with a caption that re-iterated the fact that breastfeeding is normal and natural; people shouldn’t consider it taboo if a woman is seen breastfeeding in public.

“Even if it offends you, I’m going to feed my baby whenever and wherever because it’s good for my child. If it offends you, look away. It offends me that it offends you, so there, we’re even. I always cover up when I breastfeed in public. I have no intention or desire to flash you with my boob,” she said.

“I wish society would be less judgmental of women who are doing the most natural thing instead of making them feel unwelcome or awkward,” she added.

Weeks after giving birth to her third child, she shared candid videos of her post-baby body on her Instagram story and encouraged women to respect their bodies more than other people’s opinions.

Jo-Ann was crowned Miss South Africa in 2001 and married Michael Held in 2012. She has gone on to establish herself as a successful businesswoman, speaker and TV presenter.
