FF Plus shocked by alleged spending on private security for political elites

Published on

The FF Plus has discovered that millions were allegedly spent on providing political elites within government with personal security, as was stated by Police Minister Cele in NCOP.

The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus) issued a statement on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, in which it revealed that monies were allegedly being spent on the personal security of a small group of political elites. This reportedly came to light after the party posed a question in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) to the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.

The FF Plus stated that according to Cele, personal security of 184 politicians, judges, and other unspecified important people had cost about R18 million per person per year over the past two years. It also posed the question of whether this was just a vulgar display of power or if the government was really living in fear.

The party further asked why every minister, no matter how insignificant they are, should surround themselves with heavily armed guards 24 hours a day, every day.
