FF Plus calls for the arrest of Jacob Zuma

Published on

The FF Plus has expressed that it feels that the Minister of Police is making excuses for the conduct of former president, Jacob Zuma, and has called for his arrest.

The Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus), on Tuesday, 6 July 2021, asked for the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele to stop making excuses for former president, Jacob Zuma, and see to it that he is arrested. Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months in prison on contempt of court. The FF Plus claimed that Zuma is not above the law and cannot insist on preferential treatment.

The party also noted that the events that took place in Nkandla over the weekend were a demonstration of the police’s incompetence and inability to control the crowd, calling it inadequate crowd-control training. The FF Plus also stated that had police officers been properly trained in this regard, they would have known how to handle the situation, and those in violation of COVID-19 safety and security would have been arrested.

According to the leader of the FF Plus, Dr Pieter Groenewald, “The excuse put forward by Minister Cele that the police had information which indicated that there was a whole crowd of people who were armed is a poor excuse.” The FF Plus also believes that the minister is trying to mislead people and that the entire situation is undermining South Africa’s criminal justice system.
