Exxaro Resources has released a statement confirming the appointment of Chanda Nxumalo to its board, which is set to take effect from Monday, 1 February 2021.
Exxaro Resources Limited released a statement on Friday, 15 January 2021, announcing the appointment of a new independent non-executive director. The announcement form part of the company’s obligations as a listed company, as it welcomed Chanda Nxumalo to its board.
In detailing the experience that Nxumalo has, the statement noted, “Chanda has 15 years of experience working in the renewable energy and power sector. Having worked across North America and Europe, she has experience delivering technical, commercial and environmental advisory services in the renewables sector. As a director of Harmattan Renewables, she has been responsible for providing technical consultancy and asset management services for renewable energy projects across Sub-Saharan Africa.”
Additionally, “For the past decade, Chanda has been instrumental in driving the renewable energy roll-out in South Africa, acting as the spokesperson for the South African Photovoltaic (“PV”) Association, as well as consulting on some of the first renewable projects to be delivered as part of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program. Chanda holds an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Economics and Management from the Oxford University.”
The statement clarified that despite the announcement being made today, her appointment is set to take effect from Monday, 1 February 2021.
