On Tuesday, 13 February the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) directed its anger against expelled party leader, Luthando Mbinda, saying that Mbinda “is a project, and does not represent the party.”
Mbinda who is the PAC’s sole representative in Parliament, has been at the center of a power struggle, that has seen him remain as a Member of Parliament, despite his expulsion from the party.
The party alleges that “Mbinda is a project” of National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete.” The party’s spokesperson, Kenneth Mokgatlhe, expressed his frustration in a statement, saying “it is disturbing to see political formations represented in Parliament attempting to address the current political catastrophe in occupied Azania [South Africa]. The PAC has been muted, we have been silenced by Baleka Mbete to take part in the affairs of the state while Mbete’s Parliament continues to pay Mbinda who is representing himself.”
The PAC has threatened legal action against both Mbinda and Parliament, saying, “we have come to understand and appreciate that the only language that the Parliament hear is the Constitutional Court route, which is the exclusive way to make our problem disappear. In that guise, we are continuing with court case on the 1st of March 2018 to force Baleka Mbete to remove his friend to make way for PAC’s representative.”
The case against Luthando Mbinda and Parliament will be heard on 1 March 2018 at the Western Cape High Court.
