Twenty-eight EXO-Ls participated in a worldwide fan project.
This past Sunday, 8 April 2018 the South African EXO fandom known as EXO-Ls, celebrated the bands sixth anniversary.
The fan group chose to celebrate by adopting the charitable spirit so often expressed by the members of EXO.
The EXO-Ls showed their love for the K-pop outfit by gathering at the Platbos Forest in Gansbaai in the Western Cape to plant forty trees.
The forty trees represent the forty fan bases that make up the Worldwide EXO-L Union (WWEXOL).
Twenty-eight EXO-Ls took part in the tree planting event. The aim of the day was to honour EXO’s charity mission and for fans to gain a sense of unity.
There was a prize giveaway for those who attended the event. EXO albums, posters and perfumes were given away.
The members of EXO are known for their random acts of kindness.
The group donated all profits from their albums, EX’ACT and For Life and their collaboration song with Yoo Jae Suk called Dancing King, to charity.
The members also wear clothing items supporting anti-racism and gender equality.
The group have a worldwide fan following.
The purpose of the Worldwide EXO-L Union is to foster this vast fan community and pay homage to both EXO’s musical output and charity endeavours.
In honour of EXO’s sixth anniversary, fans across the world engaged in various activities.
Fan bases from the UK, Australia, the United States, South Korea, Argentina and the Philippines participation in various events in honour of the anniversary.
Fans from Australia raised a $1000 AUD charity donation for Syrian Children via UNICEF Australia.
And the EXO fan base in the Philippines organised a sky lantern festival ceremony.
