EFF welcomes WC Court judgement against Cape Metro on election campaigning

Published on

The EFF has welcomed the judgement by the Western Cape High Court against the DA-led Cape Metro Council, for bylaws prohibiting free election campaigning for the upcoming government elections.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) issued a statement on the Western Cape High Court ruling against the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led Cape Metro Council on elections banners on Tuesday, 19 October 2021. The EFF welcomed the judgement, which it believes had put in place draconian bylaws prohibiting free election campaigning for the upcoming elections.

The party believes that the DA was frightened of the real threat that was certain to happen, which was its majority in the Cape Metro being reduced significantly. Specifically with the people in areas such as Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Langa and Nyanga, amongst others, being tired of a lack of service delivery.

It also noted that the disdain of the DA-led Cape Metro council against African and political parties led by Africans is condescending, and that the alleged corruption and dishonesty of the DA-led council knows no bounds. The EFF welcomed its victory.
