EFF Swaziland rejects interim government notion and formation reports

Published on

The EFF of Swaziland has rejected the notion of an interim government to overthrow an existing government, and has distanced itself from reports of an interim government formation.

The Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland (EFFSWA) issued a statement on Friday, 22 October 2021, addressing claims that there is currently a formation of new interim government that involves political parties and civil society. Moreover, it has distanced itself from this as it is focused on removing the current government.

EFFSWA has made it clear that it is not part of those who are allegedly forming a transitional government, and stated that it will not be part of these arrangements while there is still an existing government structure. The party believes that all plans need to be directed towards removing the current government from power, then only converge to transitional government.

It also rejected the notion that to overthrow a government, an interim government must be established. It further noted that the notion is dangerous and unrealistic, as it always breeds leaders who are hungry for power and not freedom.
