EFF sceptical about budget speech bringing structural economic reform

Published on

The EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has shared the party’s stance on the budget speech, suggesting that it did not have practical remedial action to bring effective structural economic reform.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) took to Twitter on Wednesday, 24 February 2021, to share its stance on the budget speech delivered by Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni earlier in the day. The overall feedback has been agreed upon by several opposition parties, who have claimed that the speech did not effectively address the real state of the country.

The EFF shared a video of its commissar, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, who suggested that the speech did not provide practical actions towards effective structural economic reform. Ndlozi did acknowledge that Mboweni was at least candid about South Africa currently facing a lot of debt.

However, the commissar went on to suggest that despite Mboweni knowing the state of the country’s debt, the proposed reforms appear to be geared towards continuing to benefit big business and funding troubled parastatals, without much consideration for the unemployed and grant recipients.
