The EFF has condemned CAF for denying the SABC rights to broadcast the CAF Champions League final match, calling it a last minute sabotage of the public broadcaster.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have condemned the denial of the broadcasting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League final by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). The EFF described the denial as a consistent sabotage of the SABC.
The party stated that denying the SABC the right to air the final match was made worse by the fact that the corporation met all the commercial terms to air the game, yet CAF denied the public broadcaster on the basis that SuperSport secured all the rights to the game. The EFF stated that it condemns CAF for ambushing the SABC with this denial at the last minute, especially as it denies millions of South Africans who do not have access to SuperSport from watching one of the most historical football matches between the biggest sporting clubs in the country. The party further called the SuperSport channel greedy.
