EFF comments on appointment of Khumbudzo Ntshavheni as acting minister

The EFF has released a statement on the appointment of Khumbudzo Ntshavheni as an acting minister in the presidency, claiming that she has achieved nothing meaningful as the Minister of Small Business Development.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) took to Twitter on Wednesday, 27 January 2021, to comment on the appointment of the Minister of Small Business Development, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni as the acting minister in the presidency. The appointment was made due to the passing of Jackson Mthembu, who previously held the position. Moreover, Ntshavheni is set to temporarily hold both ministerial positions.

Commenting on her appointment, the statement read, “The EFF notes the appointment of the Minister of Small Businesses, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni as the acting minister in the presidency. It is worth noting that Minister Ntshavheni has achieved nothing meaningful as the Department of Small Businesses Minister. Moreover, the Department is failing to play any active and meaningful role in the development of small businesses, with entities such as SEFA and SEDA all being in disarray.

“Furthermore, small businesses under her leadership, were left stranded without any government intervention when government money was given to White-owned companies. They failed to spend money and instead, made unreasonable demands on small businesses which they know cannot fulfil to access funding.”

The EFF further called for the department to be re-merged with the Department of Trade and Industry. Moreover, the party suggested that Ntshavheni be made a permanent minister in the presidency, not because she is the most suitable candidate for the position, but rather, because the ruling party supposedly fills such vacancies based on party affiliations.
