EFF accuses ANC of fraud at Mpumalanga by-elections

Published on

The EFF has circulated a statement alleging that ANC members who do not reside in a Mpumalanga ward were fraudulently brought in to cast their votes at the by-elections.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) released a statement on Wednesday, 9 December 2020, claiming that it has found evidence of fraud at the recent by-elections. The opposition party also alluded to its suspicions of foul play in the past, however, it did not have evidence at the time.

In explaining the recent developments, the statement read, “The Economic Freedom Fighters welcomes the arrest of three criminals, who were caught by our agents fraudulently voting in ward 15, Nkomazi Municipality, Mpumalanga. These individuals, who do not reside in ward 15, were part of a contingent that has been bussed in by the ANC to steal electoral power. It is a common trend that the EFF has long pointed out, and places the ANC in the generation of failed liberation that undermine democracy to remain in power.”

The statement went on to lambast the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for allegedly turning a blind eye to the alleged corrupt actions of the ruling party. The EFF further noted that if the IEC fails to take action, it will “overthrow a despotic and corrupt regime of criminals.”
