Dumi Mkokstad “grateful to God and to fans” for latest accolade

Dumi Mkokstad won Best Gospel Song for his song Ulwandle at the Crown Gospel Awards, last night, after taking to social media to encourage his fans to vote. 

Gospel singer, Dumi Mkokstad, thanked his fans on social media after winning the award for Best Gospel Song for his song, Ulwandle, at the 11th annual Crown Gospel Awards on Sunday, 25 November 2018.

This is the second time that Mkokstad has won the award, as his first win was in 2015. The awards, which were founded by businesswoman Zanele Mbokazi, celebrate achievements in local gospel music. This year’s event was hosted by popular TV Presenter, Pearl Modiadie and Clash of the Choirs host Lawrence Maleka.

Mkokstad had a busy weekend also making an appearance as a performer at the 2nd Annual DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards on Saturday.

In a thirty second clip posted on Facebook, Mkokstad thanked God for the win and told fans that the accolade represented their support of his music. According to TimesLive,the Mbize singer received just over 110,000 votes securing his win.

In the same Facebook video, Mkokstad invited fans to attend a performance at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on Friday, 21 December 2018. He said tickets for the event would be available soon.
