Dudu Myeni to return to State Capture Commission stand
Dudu Myeni is set to return to the Zondo State Capture Commission for her second day of questioning, despite having hardly answered any questions on the first day.
The Zondo State Capture Commission took to Twitter on Wednesday, 4 November 2020, to confirm that former Board Chairperson of South African Airways (SAA), Dudu Myeni is set to return for her second day of questioning. On her first day of questioning, Myeni hardly answered any questions posed to her.
By the end of the day, her standard answer to any question posed to her was, “May I not answer the question, I do not want to incriminate myself.” This was after Myeni had previously stated that she would answer in this manner due to the possibility of other legal organisations or groups using her statement to incriminate her in other crimes. Additionally, Myeni was not even physically present, as she appeared virtually before the court. According to her, she had come into contact with someone who may have tested positive for COVID-19.
Myeni is set to return on Thursday, 5 November 2020, at 10:00. There is conversation on how to get her to answer the questions, in fear of her continued silence creating a precedent for upcoming testimonies.
