Dianne Kohler Barnard calls for more action against Richard Mdluli

Published on

Dianne Kohler Barnard has called for more action to be taken against former Crime Intelligence Head, Richard Mdluli, following his five-year sentence for kidnapping and assault.

The Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Dianne Kohler Barnard took to Twitter on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, to comment on the news that Richard Mdluli has been sentenced to five years in prison. The verdict was delivered by Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng at the Gauteng High Court. Mdluli has been sentenced to jail for the assault and kidnapping of Oupa Ramogibe in 1999.

In her reaction to the news, Kohler Barnard suggested that more should be done to ensure that Mdluli spends more time in prison. She stated that he must now be tried for allegedly stealing from the South African Police Service (SAPS). Kohler Barnard’s claims have not been verified, nor has there been any talk of remedial action by the ruling party on the claims.
