The DBE took to Twitter to detail the findings from the recent urgent Council of Education Ministers meeting, one of which was confirmation that the NSC writing pool is the largest one to date.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) took to Twitter on Thursday, 19 November 2020, to reveal the outcomes of the urgent Council of Education Ministers meeting. The meeting was held on Tuesday, 18 November 2020, with the intention to discuss the progress of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) final exams.

Based on the feedback from the meeting, the department is said to be doing well, all things considered. Matriculants are currently in their third week of exams and, overall, things have reportedly been going according to plan.

The statement claimed that the COVID-19-positive students have been well contained, despite initial fears. Moreover, the recent leaked exam paper has also reportedly been dealt with, but the department has continued to warn against a similar incident.

According to the post, “This examination is the largest yet with 1 058 699. The exam started on Thursday, 5 November 2020, and ends on Tuesday, 15 December 2020.”
