DBE encourages unemployed youth to apply for BEEI

Published on

The DBE has announced the opening of phase two of the Basic Education Employment Initiative, encouraging all youth and eligible candidates to apply to gain valuable education skills training.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) issued a statement on Sunday, 26 September 2021, announcing that recruitment for phase two of the Basic Education Employment Initiative would open from 27 September 2021 to 3 October 2021. The DBE called on the unemployed youth to apply for education assistant placements, as the department is looking to provide 287 000 unemployed young people with employment and training opportunities in the education sector.

As part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI)-Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI), forming part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus, the department seeks to mitigate economic challenges brought on by the pandemic. Youth between the ages of 18 and 35, who are neither in education/training nor receiving any form of government grant, and people with disabilities and women, have been encouraged to apply for the experience. Selected candidates will receive training on skills for future employment.
