DA stresses that Vuma Vaccination campaign needs transparency

Published on

The DA has stressed that the announced Vuma Vaccination campaign cannot be a repeat of the Digital Vibes scandal, and has called for complete transparency.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister of Health, Siviwe Gwarube issued a statement on Friday, 1 October 2021, stressing that the Vuma Vaccination campaign must not be a repeat of Digital Vibes. Gwarube informed that during the portfolio meeting on health, she intended to ask the Minister of Health, Dr. Joe Phaahla who would be responsible for the campaign rollout, how much has been set aside for it, how Parliament will be kept abreast of the details of the campaign and its performance in relation to spending.

She further stated that given the revelations from the Special Investigating Unit report regarding the Digital Vibes scandal, there needs to be surety that the Vuma campaign would not turn into a Digital Vibes 2.0. Gwarube also stressed that the country needs complete transparency over the rollout of this vaccination campaign, as the country cannot afford a front.
