DA seeks answers on alleged abuse of state resources from Cyril Ramaphosa

The DA has released a formal statement asking President Cyril Ramaphosa to clarify how an ANC delegation was able to travel to Zimbabwe using a SANDF Airforce jet.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) released a formal statement on Thursday, 10 September 2020, calling for President Cyril Ramaphosa to address the alleged abuse of state resources. The DA is seeking clarity on how an African National Congress (ANC) delegation was able to travel to Zimbabwe using a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Airforce jet. “The delegation led by ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, who holds no official government position, met with officials from ZANU-PF,” the statement read.

The statement went on to elaborate on the contentious matter, noting, “This was not a meeting between the officials of the South African and Zimbabwean governments, but a meeting between the two political parties.” The DA not only asked Ramapahosa to comment on the alleged corruption, but also to “immediately pay back the money that SANDF spent on transporting its party delegation to Zimbabwe.”

The ruling party has yet to address the matter publicly, as it has only released a statement on the resolutions of the fact-finding mission.
