The DA has announced that it is set to host what it has described as a historic virtual rally, Time For Change, which champions change and a rejection of the status quo.
Federal Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), John Steenhuisen took to Twitter on Monday, 3 May 2021, to post a video announcing the party’s first big election campaign effort. Steenhuisen announced the upcoming Time For Change rally, which will be hosted virtually in order to reach more people.
Steenhuisen detailed the two tenets that will govern the virtual rally. Firstly, Steenhuisen stipulated that the rally seeks to emphasise the importance of a non-racial South Africa. He then asserted that the tenet is one that is at the core of the leading opposition party. Secondly, the rally should be viewed as a chance to take a stand against economic policies and regulations that appear to only benefit the few and connected, instead of the masses.
The virtual rally is set to take place on Saturday, 22 May 2021. Further details on the rally are expected to be shared closer to the date.
