The DA has announced that it will be retaining governance of the Kouga Municipality in the EC, following the local government elections, and has committed to continued progress.

Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), John Steenhuisen issued a statement on Tuesday, 2 November 2021, announcing that the DA will be retaining the Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape. This follows the results of the local government elections that took place on Monday, 1 November 2021.

Steenhuisen noted that the DA is delighted to have retained the Eastern Cape municipality, and informed Kouga residents that the party plans to continue living up to their expectations and doing their best to serve them with dedication, integrity and humility, as they continue to get things done for them. He also expressed that the party is excited and grateful to have received this opportunity to build on the foundation of good governance that the DA has already laid over the past five years. The leader further stated that the party recognises that there is still work to be done, thus it has committed to progress.
