The DA has pledged to do away with corruption in the Eastern Cape, highlighting how it had immediately tackled corruption in the Nelson Mandela Bay with its appointment.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) Eastern Cape Provincial Leader and Nelson Mandela Bay Mayoral Candidate, Nqaba Bhanga issued a statement on Wednesday, 13 October 2021, stating that the DA is pledging to stand against corruption in the Eastern Cape. Bhanga stated that the African National Congress (ANC) is pledging to uphold good governance and continue the fight against corruption.
He further noted that when the DA took back the government of the Nelson Mandela Bay in December 2020, it immediately set out to tackle corruption that was allowed to run under the administration of what he believes to be the ANC/Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) coalition of corruption. He touched on how, over the last 48 hours, 15 bodies had been discovered in the Walmer Township, noting that the DA has repeatedly called for more policing resources for the province. He believes that corruption goes hand-in-hand with chaos and killing, and that under the ANC, corruption is rampant.
