DA eagerly awaits Vrede Dairy report after Public Protector loses appeal

Published on

The Democratic Alliance has reiterated its stance and expressed interest in the Vrede Dairy investigation report, following Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane losing her appeal.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has taken to social media to express eagerness to receive the Vrede Dairy investigation on Monday, 29 June 2020. This after Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s appeal not to publicise her investigations and findings was dismissed by the Supreme Court of Appeal.

The importance of the report, according to the DA, is that it will provide clarity on “issues relating to both the ongoing sidelining of the rightful beneficiaries and the role of politicians in the malfeasance.”

Once they have received the report, the leading opposition party intends to “ensure that all the controversial aspects relating to the project were investigated and that the findings correspond to this.” Further, the DA’s biggest intention is to show “how the ANC-run government has abused land reform projects for corrupt purposes and to benefit cronies.”
