The DA Shadow Minister for the Presidency has called on the presidency to release the disciplinary proceedings outcome of Khusela Diko, in light of reports of her reinstatement.
On Tuesday, 31 August 2021, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister for the Presidency, Solly Malatsi called on the presidency to release the outcomes of Khusela Diko’s disciplinary process. This follows reports of her reinstatement as President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson.
The DA called on the presidency to release the outcomes of the disciplinary process it instituted against Diko earlier in the year. The party noted that the presidency confirmed in January that it had instituted disciplinary proceedings against Diko. This was following a recommendation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) after Diko reportedly failed to disclose her financial interests in light of the Royal Bhaca COVID-19 corruption scandal.
The DA Shadow Minister further stated that should the reports of Diko’s reinstatement be true, it would be an indictment on the president and his government. This being because the DA believes it would be sending a clear message that Ramaphosa is too lenient on those who are close to him and are implicated in serious allegations of impropriety. The DA, therefore, emphasised that it is in the public interest, considering the serious allegations of corruption, that the disciplinary outcomes are made public.
