DA calls for debate into impact of ANC cadre deployment on state capture

Published on

The Chief Whip of the DA has confirmed that the party is requesting a debate of national importance into the ANC’s cadre deployment, which is said to have contributed to state capture.

Chief Whip of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Natasha Mozzone issued a statement on Thursday, 12 August 2021, in which she announced that the DA has written to the acting Speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli. The party has requested a debate of national importance on cadre deployment, as it believes that the African National Congress’ (ANC) policy resulted in the near collapse of the state.

Mazzone stated that while former president Jacob Zuma seems to have spearheaded the country’s capture, blame also needs to be laid at President Cyril Ramphosa’s feet as he was the chairperson of the ANC’s cadre deployment committee. Moreover, he is said to have actively participated in deploying ANC cadres across government departments, where they allegedly facilitated the Gupta family’s looting of state-owned entities and government departments.

The Chief Whip further claimed that the ruling party’s policy has led to the widespread corruption that is rife within the government. Mazzone also stated that Ramaphosa’s testimonies at the Zondo Commission showed that he has no desire to be held accountable for the consequences of the policy, his hand in the contrversial appointment, as well as how it has impacted the state’s resources.
