Connie Ferguson shares original Generations opening sequence, featuring the late Vinolia “V-Mash” Mashego

Actress and businesswoman, Connie Ferguson, has shared the original opening sequence of acclaimed soapie, Generations, which features legends such as the late Vinolia Mashego, Sello Maake ka-Ncube and Sophie Lichaba.

On Wednesday, 8 April 2020, while South Africans continue to mourn the recent passing of television veteran and iconic figure, Vinolia “V-Mash” Mashego. Connie Ferguson shared a snippet of the original opening sequence of Generations. Connie worked with the late star as part of the original cast of SABC 1’s longest running soapie, now called Generations: The Legacy.

The video revealed that Generations was the home of many of the stars and veterans in entertainment today. The opening sequence reminded young and old social media users that the soapie starred actors such as Tina Jaxa, Sello Maake ka-Ncube, Themba Ndaba, Sophie Lichaba and Pamela Nomvete.

The post prompted many nostalgic comments from various media personalities, all reminiscing about “the good old days.” Many commented by reflecting on how significant the weekday 20:00 time slot was for many, predominantly black South African families, who all congregated together in the living room to watch the soapie together.
