The Competition Commission has issued its weekly statement, making recommendations for the Tribunal to approve proposed acquisitions and resolved to non-refer cases.
The Competition Commission of South Africa issued its weekly statement on Thursday, 2 September 2021, following its weekly meeting to review and take decisions on matters brought before it by members of the public and corporate applicants. Amongst others, the commission recommended that the Competition Tribunal (Tribunal) approve the proposed transaction on Dis-Chem Limited’s intention to acquire the entire share capital of Pure Pharmacy Holdings. It further recommended that the Tribunal approve the proposed transaction on Altron TMT Group’s intention to acquire LawTrust with some conditions.
The commission also resolved to non-referring some cases brought before it, including the Primark Holding versus Truworths Limited case, the City of Cape Town versus Park Avenue Stationers, and the KPG Agencies and FTA Enterprises case. Additionally, the Maludi Gift Moyo versus Tracker Connect case, as well as the Terrence Michael Goosen versus Dianne Leigh Woodhouse case.
