Employment and Labour has issued a notice on behalf of the Compensation Fund, informing stakeholders of the delays in processing and payments of claims in the aftermath of unrest.

The Department of Employment and Labour, on Monday, 19 July 2021, issued a notice on behalf of the Compensation Fund to all stakeholders. The department announced that the fund is currently experiencing delays in the processing and payment of benefits.

The department, together with the Compensation Fund, informed all beneficiaries and medical service providers of the delay in processing and payments, due to the civil unrest that was experienced by parts of the country, as well as the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund also stated that the geographical areas that were mostly impacted were KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and Gauteng.

Employment and Labour has therefore requested that all stakeholders be patient with the fund, as there are currently delays in processing claims due to officials who are experiencing challenges and restrictions. The fund asked for patience and assured its service commitment.
