CNBLUE’s Jung Yong-hwa to begin his mandatory military service Monday

On Monday, 5 March, the main vocalist of the pop rock band CNBLUE, Jung Yong-hwa (Hangeul: 정용화) will begin his 21-month mandatory military service.

CNBLUE member, Jung Yong-hwa, will enter a boot camp in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, for five weeks of basic training. Later, he will be assigned to an Army unit, where he will serve out the rest of his mandatory duty as an active-duty soldier.

One day before enlisting, on Sunday, 4 March, Jung shared a photo on his personal Twitter account, revealing his shaved head:


He wrote, “Guys, I’ll be enlisting in the military tomorrow. Stay in good health, and I hope you will achieve all your dreams and goals. I’ll be back safely, so don’t worry about me. In the meantime, I wish you lots of happy moments! Good-bye for a while!”

In the meantime, the 28-year-old singer is suspected of illegal admission to a doctorate course at Kyung Hee University in 2017, having scored the highest marks on his admission tests without being interviewed, which is required for admission.
