Online advertising network Chitika has announced on its website that it is closing down, and advertisers have until Tuesday, 30 April 2019, to collect their work.
As the name suggests, Chitika Online Advertising Network is a portal whose data helps publishers and advertisers strike an ideal balance between user experience and making a profit. On Wednesday, 17 April 2019, the company took to its website to announce that it would be closing its virtual doors.
After 15+ years in business and millions of publisher relationships, Chitika is hereby shutting down. Our sincere thanks to all our publishers with whom we have enjoyed wonderful relationships over the years. We wish you the best of luck and success as you continue to grow your traffic and revenue,” the announcement read.
Now, for those who may be confused about the way forward, the company has asked that publishers remove Chitika ad code from all their websites on or before 30 April 2019, as any Chitika ad code or calls to Chitika ad services will cease to operate after the stipulated date. As for earning for March and April, the company said there would, unfortunately, not be any pay out.
“Unfortunately, due to termination of our partnership with our biggest exchange partner, no earnings accumulated after 1 March 2019 will be paid out. All earnings after 1 March 2019 have been charge backed by the exchange and money has been returned to the advertisers,” the statement added.
However, the company said that if a publisher has an outstanding balance, they should ensure that they meet the payment requirements and follow instructions to get paid a final balance by 30 April 2019.
All the forms and steps to follow can be found on the official Chitika website.
