The CCMA has informed the public that operations remain suspended due to the ongoing violent civil unrest, and has urged users to make use of CCMA services digitally.
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) informed the public that operations in both KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and Gauteng remain suspended, in a statement on Friday, 16 July 2021. The commission noted that the suspension of operations is due to the ongoing violent civil unrest.
In an effort to raise awareness, the commission stated, “Following an assessment of the situation pertaining to the persistent violent civil unrest in the provinces, the CCMA has decided to suspend operations in the best interests and safety of CCMA employees and Users for the rest of the week.”
The CCMA advised users not to visit the offices in both provinces, and stated that they should, instead, refer to the advisory issued on Monday, 12 July 2021, on the impact of the suspension of services on the case roll and mitigation plans. The CCMA also stated that users can still make referrals and applications digitally. The commission concluded by stating that it is monitoring the situation closely.
