Capitec Bank has advised customers that it will continue to operate throughout the 21-day lockdown, however, shorter working hours will be introduced to some of its branches.
Selected Capitec branches will be open from Monday to Friday from 09:00 until 16:00 throughout the lockdown period, to offer assistance to customers with any essential banking needs during the 21-day lockdown. The bank stated, “Facing this global pandemic is a defining moment in history. We can’t change the situation, but we can help change the outcome by choosing how we respond to it, and how we respond to it will not only define our character, but also shape the future for the next generation.”
The bank has also advised customers that they will be able to do most of their banking on the mobile app, which enables them to remain at home without visiting any of their branches. Capitec also offers remote banking, which allows customers to do major transactions or deposits using their personal devices.
Despite the reduced working hours, Capitec has ensured the public that all its staff members will be paid in full, irrespective of the shorter working hours. The bank stated, “All of our staff will still receive a full salary regardless of their working hours. Our website will have updated information regularly.”
