Busiswa gets continental recognition as Best Female award winner

Flying the South African flag high is hit-maker, Busiswa, who was named the Best Female at the Soundcity MVP Awards which took place in Nigeria.

South African music sensation, Busiswa, is celebrating her recent win at the Soundcity MVP Awards, which took place in Nigeria on Saturday, 5 January 2019. Busiswa walked away with the Best Female Award, which many believe was well-deserved.

She has been featured on some of South Africa’s most popular songs, such as DJ Maphorisa’s ‘Midnight Starring,’ alongside DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz and Moonchild Sanelly, and more recently, Prince Kaybee’s ‘Banomoya,’ which was named Song of the Year in 2018.

In an interview published by local media on Sunday, 30 November 2018, Busiswa, who has a passion for poetry and story-telling, reflected on her journey in the music industry, and shared what she attributes her success to. She commented:

“Working with Maphorisa and Clap was great because they knew how to choose the right things and keep them in the song, and eliminate extra stuff that’s too much, because I was deep. They taught me the importance of being minimalistic. People are not in the club trying to get preached at, but you could have a powerful impact by saying as little as possible. From that day, I took off.”

The hit-maker took to social media to share images from the awards ceremony, as well as photos of herself during her acceptance speech, adding that she “is humbled” by the continental recognition and accolade.
