BTS, EXO and NCT dominate Billboard’s Social 50 chart

South Korean K-pop boy bands BTS, EXO and NCT hold top positions in Billboard’s Social 50 chart on the April 7-dated list.

On Tuesday, 3 April 2018, Billboard announced that on the April 7-dated list, for the first time in the history of Billboard’s Social 50 chart (which began in 2012), top three is occupied by popular K-pop acts BTS, EXO and NCT, taking No. 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

The chart’s latest tracking week ended March 29.

Now at No. 3, NCT debuted on the previous week’s Social 50 chart dated 31 March at No. 9.

Moreover, No. 5 of the Social 50 chart is also taken by a K-pop group – GOT7.

The Billboard’s Social 50 chart is a ranking of the most active and popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr, measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound

The artists’ popularity is determined by a formula blending weekly additions of friends / fans / followers along with artist page views, engagement and weekly song plays.
