Bonang Matheba wishes Zimbabwean voters well

Media personality, Bonang Matheba took to Twitter on Monday to wish Zimbabwean voters a safe and fair election.

Bonang Matheba took to Twitter on Monday, 30 July 2018, to send out a heartfelt message to Zimbabwean voters. Zimbabweans headed to the polls for the historic first election since long-time ruler Robert Mugabe was ousted from power in 2017. Two rival presidential candidates, President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Zanu PF party, and opposition leader Nelson Chamisa of the MDC party, have since both expressed confidence of their win to lead the country.

Matheba first sent out a reply to her celebrity bestie, Lorna Maseko, regarding the Zimbabwean elections. Matheba wrote, “…please make sadza and stew. 🙏🏽 I’ll bring the likwas! 🤣 🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼 Halala Zimbabwe halaaaalaaaa!” in response to Maseko’s well wishes for Zimbabweans. Matheba then sent out her own message of support for voters, saying, “Love to everyone in Zimbabwe. Hope everything went well today…..🙏🏽.” Matheba has since received scores of replies from Zimbabwean fans and followers, many who thanked her for her consideration and thoughtfulness.

In March 2018, Matheba visited Zimbabwe for a cocktail event. Thanks to her expansive brand, the TV host has acquired celebrity status in countries across Africa, including Zimbabwe. Speaking in a brief interview during a trip to the country in 2015, Matheba said, “I am happy to be in Zimbabwe, there are exciting people here.”
