Bonang is transitioning from working in front of the camera, to establishing herself as a producer with her upcoming documentary which zooms in on the lives of influencers.
Media personality Bonang Matheba has revealed that she is venturing into production, after her numerous awards and nominations for her television and radio work. Bonang is listed as the producer on an upcoming film documentary about social media influencers around the world. The television host has been teasing fans with glimpses of the production on her Instagram page.
The upcoming film documentary is titled Public Figures and it explores how ordinary people with an established social media following can monetize on that and build a sustainable career through being a social media influencer.
Bonang is featured on the documentary as one of the case studies, alongside internet sensations Sebastian Tribbie, Greg Gallagher, Donterio Washington and Greg & Rebecca.
“This is an international project that has been in the works for a very long time,” Bonang said, speaking to local media in an article published on Friday, 28 September 2018. “This is another step in my journey of being an executive producer and growing my production skills. I think it’s something that needs to be seen by everyone because its message is universal. With everything that’s going on in the world, we need to be more educated on certain issues, such as those in the film.”
Bonang went on to say that she felt establishing herself as a producer felt like the most natural transition, having spent over a decade in the industry and learning from producers on the various projects she has worked on.
She took on the role of co-executive producer for her reality TV show called Being Bonang.
