The BLSA has published the weekly newsletter by its CEO, Busi Mavuso, in which she highlighted the continued threat posed by the pandemic on the business sector.
Business Leadership South Africa’s (BLSA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Busi Mavuso, on Monday, 30 November 2020, circulated a thought piece attempting to demystify the misconception that there is no relation between business and COVID-19. Mavuso claimed that there is a misconception that the two are exclusive of each other, when in actuality, that is farthest from the truth.
The though piece also advised businesses on how to remain functional after a possible contamination. She proposed an isolation of the problem areas, rather than a complete shutdown of the business’ operations. The suggestion is one she claimed could be practiced with the economy too.
She stated, “We need a policy approach that sets out what levels of infection rate will trigger additional measures and what rules will apply. If we get set that down, we can then look at the complexity involved in enforcing them. I expect businesses would widely support such an approach and add resources necessary to manage compliance.”
